Golf Tip - Developing A Consistent Swing!J D DeanYour golf swing is made up of four basic components... the stance, swing, contact and follow through. In this article, we will analyze each of these components to give you a golf tip or two to developing a better swing. It will take some practice but you are aiming to develop your swing from memory so it all flows together once you are on the tee.
Golf Tip - The Stance Is Vital It's the foundation of your golf swing. Build a solid foundation and the rest of the house has firm ground to stand on. The swing is no different. Try these simple steps. Get your feet right in relation to the pin. As you stand at the tee in your normal stance, lay the shaft across your feet so it's touching the toes on either foot. This will give you a good idea of where your feet are in relationship to the pin. Make sure the club is aiming directly for the pin. If not, then simply adjust the shaft until it is and position your feet accordingly so your toes touch the shaft. That's the first part of your stance. The second involves the shoulders and hips which should also be in line with the club. The idea here is to get you used to being in a parallel angle to the target your aiming for. Practice this with the aim of making sure the shoulders and hips are parallel with the imaginary line running across the tip of your toes towards the flag. Golf Tip - The Swing The motion of your golf swing is relative to your stance however, how's your grip? Take the club handle in your left hand and fit it under the heel of the palm. The left thumb should positon naturally on the top of the club and then your right hand folds over the left thumb. The club should be at least the width of your hand away from the body. The balls of your feet are where most of your weight will be. Your left arm will be fully extended and your right arm slightly bent while your knees will also be bent slightly. Golf Tip -The Rotation Now for the actual golf swing. It's important to remember the use of the arms is in direct relation with the rotation of the hips. It's not the hands which perform the golf swing. Sure, they are important in relation to gripping the club correctly but it's the arm movement and the hip rotation which is vital. When the club comes back, your back will almost be facing the target. The downward movement of the club will generally be about 30 per cent or more quicker than the back lift motion. On impact with the ball, the shoulders will be parallel with the ball and in the follow through, your body will basically be facing your target. Golf Tip - Practice Your Swing That is the golf swing. Remember, the power obtained is from the rotation motion. Practice the swing and in particular, learn the rotation movement. |
