Golf Swing Sequence - Is It Just A Bunch Of Baloney?

Whenever you hear the term golf swing sequence you should pay particular attention to it because in reality, mastering the art of the golf swing really comes down to understanding the correct sequence to use.

And the amazing thing is, it's pretty simple. Too many players make the game complicated; they over-analyze their swing and this over-analyzation will land them in trouble more often than not.

The Basics Of The Golf Swing

The correct golf swing sequence applies to every shot you play. It's particularly important in the tee-off motion when you're looking for the perfect drive to set you up for a sub par hole.

So what is the right golf swing sequence? In a nutshell it's:

1. the back swing

2. the down swing and

3. the impact (of hitting the ball) and follow through

Over analyze this and you're setting yourself up for an ordinary round. Practice the three parts of the golf swing sequence and you'll quickly develop consistency in your swing.

Okay, so there is perhaps a little more to the golf swing than just the back swing, down swing and ball impact. You still need to execute them correctly and this is where some coaching will come in handy. This article is aimed at the inexperienced golfer and if there's one tip you can take to the bank it's to get some lessons early on so you get into good habits early.

The Swing

The back swing is the critical move because if this is wrong the whole swing will go wrong. The down swing is almost automatic, though not quite so. This part is directly coordinated in the body stance with high emphasis on the feet and legs position. The last part, the impact transfers the weight and movement momentum to the arms and to the wrists where the hands swing and make the club hit the ball.

The whole movement is one fluid movement of the body by which the weight is transferred from the feet to the tip of the club to hit the ball. This is the right and only way you have for golf swing sequence.

Tackling each sequence individually during practice makes good sense. Combining all three into one fluid motion which will become your trademark takes a little time but because golf is a game very much built on memory, it won't be too long before you'll be swinging the club with very little time paid to analyzing your swing.
