Golf Lesson Tips To Improve Your Game

J D Dean

It's amazing how many amateur golfers refuse to take a golf lesson even if it will shave a stroke or two off their game. Maybe they are happy walking from one side of the fairway to the other to find their ball however, on a busy course, these golfers can really slow things down and ruin a good afternoon.

The amazing thing about golf is a player can improvely their score quickly in the early stages just by taking a few golf lessons. The hard part about this game is when you start to get under 90 for 18 holes and the score improvement factor will not be as quick. So let's look at three steps in hiring a golf instructor.

Choosing The Right Instructor

Taking a golf lesson is no different than being at school. If you don't like your teacher or find their teaching method a little hard to comprehend then you are on the back foot immediately. The golf shop pro may not necessarily be the right instructor for you. Ask your fellow golfers for recommendations on who they may have heard is a good instructor or who they have personally used for a golf lesson.

The next step is to find an instructor whose qualifications match your current level of play. In other words, you don’t need a highly qualified instructor to teach you the basics of golfing. Also, make sure you agree stick rigidly to the times you agree to meet. Once you have started your lessons you don't want to slow momentum by missing important lessons.

Golf Lesson Technique

It's important to practice outside the golf lesson to apply what you've been taught. It's no good getting a lesson once a week and then not doing any practice until you get to the next lesson. Golfers with initiative will even hit the driving range or practice fairway immediately following their golf lesson. That makes sense if you are really serious about improving your game.

Take Criticism On Board

Any golf lesson will involve some criticism directed at you. That's normal but only if it's constructive. A good instructor make get a little frustrated at times; that's only natural but he'll also have your best interests at heart. Also, don't forget to ask for constructive criticism as well.
