Don't Get Sucked In With The Wrong Golf Swing Aid

Dean Caporella

There are any number of golf swing aids on the market today and it's not hard for a golfing novice to become overwhelmed. The problem most have is focussing on one aspect of their game at a time. If you're just starting out, then you need to get your swing technique right. As you progress and become more adept at certain aspects of the game, then it's time to get a little more adventurous but do not complicate what is essentially a simple game.

I've seen many a novice walk off a course disgruntled and into the golf shop; 30 minutes later, they walk out armed to the "eye teeth" with all manor of golf swing aids. The result in most cases will be total disaster. Why? No manner of golf swing aid is going to improve your game without proper advice.

The Golf Swing Aid - Friend Or Foe?

Many amateur golf players will find a number of aggressive promoters for many a golf swing aid and because they do not know better most of the time, they end up buying a number of them, only to find later that they are not as useful as they thought them to be. How do you learn to separate the wheat from the chaff? Easy, ask the experts right from the beginning. Make sure however, that your experts do not belong to the shop from where you intend to buy these aids.

Another reason why the amateur golf players end up with the wrong types of golf swing aid is because they look at the most advertised ones rather than the most useful ones. Do not be taken in by the amount of advertising you see on TV and magazines; rather ask those around you, either in an advanced learning period or experienced coaches as to what you should use as the best golf swing aid. The answer you will receive will definitely put you on the right track.

Helpful Hints

In order to get the best out of your golf swing aid you will need to know what exactly would benefit you the most. Hence, before you go to the shop, you will need to find out what you need to improve at. Again, you should take the advice of an expert to do this. Once you have a specific need in mind it will be easier for you to get the best suited golf swing aid.

Is it the backlift of your golf swing that is the problem or the momentum of the downward thrust that is the problem? Is it your stance; too front on perhaps or not in proper alignment with the ball. These and other areas need to be identified before you go out and squander money on a golf swing aid that you didn't need in the first place.
